I have been wanting to doa CAI mod for a while on my 07 GT but have held off because of the emission test here in NC. I would like to just do the mod and not have to retune and reinstall the old airbox every year to have the car inspected. Seems like to much of a hassle to me, but I am starting to waiver a little on thinking like that after reading all the posts about what a big difference a CAI makes. I might give Brenspeed a call and just ask what the best solution might be.

Brent will tune it so you can pass emissions if you want, all you have to do is talk to him and let him know what you want. Him and I spoke about the O2 sensors and such and I requested my tune be emission's legal.

I had the same concerns and emailed Brent. He said that my tune would pass emissions, but if there was an issue I could contact him again to get an emissions tune. Yeah, I agree it's just a PITA to swap air intake and air box every time.

25 minutes of work to take off the cai and take the tune out or being denied $1000+ or warranty work at the dealer.....which option is a PITA

Well, obviously if it came down to it and it needed major work like that..of course I wouldn't complain.
But an emissions test once a year? Just inconvenient. If there's a workaround I'd look at that first.

Allright - so if I understand correctly, I can install a CAI and have a custom tune created that will pass emmissions and will not require me to reflash or remove the CAI? I was planning on installing an AEM kit and having Brenspeed create the tunes.

yea, get three tunes from brenspeed. A stock 87. A modified 87. And a modified 93.


Flash the stock 87 to pass emissions, Go to 93 to raise hell!

I just asked Brent to leave the o2 sensors on in my tunes.....problem solved
