I have an AEM wideband and it took me about an hour and half to install....

Even a SLOW professional shop should not take more than a couple hours. Perhaps they were just behind and where working on your car in spirts. That's common at many shops especially when they get backed up. What matters is the BILL. If they charge you for more than 2-3 hours, you are getting ripped off IMO.

I got my car back and they charged me 150 bucks. 50 bucks, because they had to weld. I'm pleased with it though. It reads about 14.5 just cruising around. I wanted to get into it to see what it would read, but don't need another ticket. I'll save it for the track.

Which is the preferred boost gauge: Mechanical or electrical and why.

If no real concerning reason to NOT go with a mechanical boost gauge then heck, I'll order a SOS pillar pod and mechanical boost gauge tonight (the prices of electrical gauges is holding me back). TIA.

can't go with a mechanical boost gauge. i did
and i'm very happy with it.

Another difference is the AEM wideband is alot more $$$ then if you were to get a autometer 1. You can get a autometer one on ebay for like $60

kinda defeats the purpose of an a/f gauge if u cant tell the actual a/f of it is. You're better off just using the OBD2 scan tool or your tuning controller. Yah, the autometer can give you a ballpark a/f readout, but with boost, you want to know EXACT a/f values. The stock sensor cannot read as accurately as the wideband.

I've seen AEM UEGO sell for $150-250shipped. Not a bad price for a wideband. search PLX gauges too. Dont cheap out.

Innovative makes a really nice setup as well. Thats what I use. I have both the LC1 and LM1. The LC1 will be permanently installed on the stang soon, and the LM1 I use for tuning customers cars.
