Default Transmission/Differential oil/fluid question.

Ok when people talk about transmission/differential OIL,,, is that the same thing as tranny/differential fluid?

Or are they two different things?

Also.. should I take it to the dealer to have it done or is an oil change place cool?
Thanks

Default RE: Transmission/Differential oil/fluid question.

Yes they are one in the same OIL and Fluid that is. You'll need two different type of oil//fluid, one for the tranny and one for the rear diff. If you take it to the dealer they'll know. If you don't want to tackle it yourself I would take it to the dealer as apposed to a Jiffy lube orsomeplacelike that. They can be a liitle shady, but that has just been my experience. Better yet if you know of a local shop that has a good rep then I would take it there. They may be cheaper than the dealer. Good Luck.
