Default upgrading to h.o.

i am pretty sure i am going to upgrade from the whipple non-intercooled kit to the h.o. kit. what all is involved when upgrading?
i had someone else install the whipple i'm just wondering how difficult installing everything else is. i know it comes with the dual fuel pump, heat exchanger, water to air intercooler, and a different pully. is any of this difficult to do? because if i think i can do it i'll save some money rather than paying an arm and a leg for installation.

you can upgrade to the HO kit, no question about that.

it's going to be ALOT of labor for you, but the payoff will
be worth it imo.

you will need:

GT500 dual fuel pump, fpdm, harness
-
all the Intercooler stuff.....
10 psi pulley
belt (i'm not sure at the moment) maybe not
new tune

the only reall down time you'll have, is when it comes time
to:
a) do the fuel pump upgrade
b) pull the s/c compressor to mount the core.

those can be done in two seperate operations to minimize down
time, if that is desired.....

hard is a relative term.....i would say it'll
take you 3-5 hours, if you take your time....

others may say 2 hours.....[]

Can you install the pumps without flashing the pcm? For some reason I thought it needs reprogramming for the extra pump and fpdm.

I was going to install my pumps early if I could do it before the supercharger, that's assuming it shows up soon.

well of course that's a great question...

if it were me....i would do the intercooler stuff (minus the pulley),
then on the day of "cutover" do the fuel upgrade, pulley and flash the
pcm....then turn the key and pray

The latest issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords has an article where they upgraded their whipple to an HO system.
Check out their website. They usually have a bunch of pics of the install there.

The fuel pump install is a lot easier with another person there.
One person on the driver side to lower the pump into the tank, another person in the passenger side rear seat to push all the
hoses and stuff on the pump into the tank hole.
I gave up after about a half hour on my first try and then a friend came over and helped. It only took about 5 mins...
Then of course there's all the wiring for the pump. Not really difficult, but time consuming.

While we are on the subject. Did you allbuy a new o-ring when you changed the fuel pump or does the kit allready come with a new one. The instructions say to use a new o-ring and lock ring.
