Cleaning my C&L filter

Cleaning my C&L filter
Probably a stupid question, but I remember reading somewhere that the C&L filter (installed on the C&L intake from Brenspeed w/tune) does not require the same cleaning as a K&N. What I recall was that you do not use oil but rather just wash it out (with only water?) and let it dry w/o any oiling. I've cleaned many a K&N with the filtercharger cleaning kit, but want to make sure I don't mess up my C&L using the same method.
So, what's the preferred method for C&L filter renewal?
Thanks,
Tad

RE: Cleaning my C&L filter
Do it the same as a K&N and just use the kit. My filter was a pinkish red when I got it, and when I washed it out it became white, applied the filter oil and it was back to pinkish red. Works good as new with no problems.

RE: Cleaning my C&L filter
Just buy another filter from C&L. I think they are listed at like $40 on the site. The K&N cleaning kit might be cheaper, but then you have to worry about putting too much oil on the filter or not enough. Not enough oil you will lose HP and too much oil couldscrew up your MAF sensor. Buying a new one is probably the easiest way IMO.

RE: Cleaning my C&L filter
I seriously doubt not enough oil is going to cause you to lose HP, if anything it might increase air flow with less oil. S&B filters supply the filters for most of these CAI and they have an idiot proof way to apply the proper amount of oil to each different size of filter. Google it!
