What are some of the major differences between the 04 GT and the newer 05and up GTmodels?

There is not a big difference performance wise, is there?

there is a significant performance gap between the two....the 05+ make 300bhp and 320ft/lbs of torque (rwhp varies...depends on the dyno, conditions, etc) where as the previous gt's make somewhere around 270 (correct me if i'm wrong). when my 07 gt was stock i beat a lightly modded previous generation gt so there is a difference

Back when I was close to stock with just a CAI/Tune I beatan 04 GTthat had CAI, 4.10s and a couple of other lightmods. Plus he was the better driver. I managed to put a car or two by the end of the 1/4.

The S197 Mustangs are an all new chassis. O.K., O.K., not so new they developed it from the Linchon and Jag chassis but it IS new for a Mustang! A few significant differences between the 03/04 and 05 GT's include longer wheelbase, wider track, re-designed front strut suspension with much better geometry and steering rack, much better weight distribution, much stiffer chassis that needs no additional stiffeners to handle right, bind free 3-link rear suspension with Panhard bar for lateral location of 8.8" axle with limited slip,redesigned engine with new 3-valve heads and VVTwhich basically perform just as well as the last gen 4-valve Cobra heads.I'll stop now.

There is a significant difference in performance on a drag strip and on aroad course. Additionallyin the real world the S197GT's not only accellerate faster,handle and ride better you can actually share the ride with up to 3 other people and still have room for luggage or party supplies. The new S197GT is a real car, much more grown-upfor people who enjoy driving and use their cars every day. Of course you can make it less nice if you feel the need to revert somewhat. Aside form this stuff they are not any different in that they all can bring a smile to both the driver andthe people who seeyour Mustang drive by.

I used to had a 2003 GT (the one in my signature) with some bolt-ons and in that way I was able to beat 2005+ GTĀ“s, but now that I own a 2007 honestly I can say that stock vs stock the 2007 walks away easily.

yup, 05+ GT > 99 - 04 GT.

I feel automatics also better than the old autos.
