overheated my clutch at the strip last night
Well it was a matter of time that my stock clutch was going to give me issues. I am surprised that it lasted as long as it did with me pounding through the gears last night and I have a blower. Best time of the night unfortunately was a 13.12 R/T was .058, not too bad. Anyways I knocked off another Cobra and a stock Corvette with just CAI and exhaust, it felt good. The 3rd race, I still won with an 88MPH trap speed, since 3rd never engaged (hence the clutch problem)but was only racing a Ford Focus.
My question is, I will be ordereing a clutch this weekend and wanted opinions from actual users on what's the best. I am looking at either a stage2 or stage 3, but I don't want it too stiff since it is my daily driver. I hear a lot ofgood things about spec 2 clutches opinions or suggestions anyone?

By the way I know and realize that I should be at least in the mid to low 12's with my current setup. The track conditions in the left lane were terrible and it seemed like that's where I was put 2 of 3 times. My best time 13.12 was in the right lane. I had difficulty hooking up in 1st gear and as a result my 60 and 330 foot times showed it.

I am running the Spec's 2+ with the aluminum flywheel, it did take a about 750miles or so miles to break in, but other than that it is fine. The clutch is only a little stiffer than stock. It will cost you extra to have things changed now that the SC is intalled because the have to lower the engine to get the tranny out. Also if you go with the Spec's MAKE SURE you have it assembled and balanced before you install it. Sorry couple more things its rate at 520ftlbs of torque so if you plan on going past that in the next year or two personally I would look at what fordfanboy has, and it should not take more than 4 or 5 hours to change so don't let the installer jam you, the clutch does not need to be adjusted or bleed.

Hey Fordfanboy, just wondering how you liked your setup. I read your other post about not going with the stroker kit and doing the .20 over boar. Funny enough the performance shop here is talking me out of it too and talking me into a livernois setup just like you. I am really thinking of doing it, the only prob is there telling me that with the motor swap I am looking at 9K pricetag, but that also includes Crower stage 2 Cams with a slight lift, they are also telling me that these modulars don't like a lot of lift and minimal delay. I am thinking why even put them in??? Also that price would include a new set of heads. The shop tells me that I will be in the 600-650 crank HPrange with the new setup so I am really thinking I might need a stage 3 clutch that can handle the power. Any ideas or comments on this would greatly be appreciated. Also, I wasbummed to hear that I can't keep the blower if I swap out to a 5.4L engine, I guess the valley is slightly larger and it won't fit.

I sure will. I am leaning towards the spec2 stage 3 for DD. It is rated at 680HP. I plan on dropping a livernois motor in like fordfanboy has some day in the near future. I am thinking this would be a good matchup. I'll post the results of pricing and E/T's after I use it at the track.
