RE: What headers to get?
This is a repost from a previous thread:
Here's what I was told when at JDM
1) I would not need a new tune for LT's at all.
2)They do not turn off the sensors with their tunes, so you need extensions.
3) While they sell both ARH and Kooks, they recommended the Kooks here's their explanation;
The Kooks and ARH are both very good quality. They recommend sticking with 1 5/8" primaries, not the 1 3/4", and definitely not a 3" aftercat system.
The Kooks are technically mid length headers and not true long tubes. The O2 sensor position is not too far away from original position to become a problem.
With the ARH, the headers are so long that the O2 sensor in the collector can get too cold, and you will lose control of your sensor. This, on cold startup, esp on cold days, can cause significant idle and running issues until it warms up. The solution they perform is plugging the collector location and moving the O2 sensor into one of the primaries, close to the head. However, you are now reading off of only one cylinder.
Their conclusion was, although you may see 1-3 hp more gain with the ARH than the Kooks, it wasn't worth the potential running issues it might cause, or the hassle of performing the O2 relocation.
Since I don't drive my car in the winter, and Kooks doesn't make a catted H-pipe yet, and I can get the ARH at cost, I am still going back and forth regarding brand. Just thought I'd pass this on to those who care.

RE: What headers to get?
I just bought the Kooks long tubes with the catted X pipe and Pypes Violator mufflers. Easy install and they sound incredible! Very DEEP sound and VERY agressive at WOT. Got it all from Brenspeed.
Best of luck

RE: What headers to get?
One of the main reasons I decided on getting Kooks eventually was the cats that come with it (I need to pass emissions)
Is there another stainless steel setup that runs cats? It seems liek they all have an Off Road X or H.

RE: What headers to get?
Why do you want to pay 1,000+ for a set of headers when the JBA's come in different sizes for your mods. They come in 1 3/4 with 2.5 collectors and they also come with 1 5/8 primaries and a 3.0 collector. All for $500. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT

RE: What headers to get?
Will Brenspeed give me a tune if I buy something other than what they sell? The only set that has cats is Mac and that might not even be the case. Does that setup need an X or H pipe to match? What about the ARH or JBA?
