it is more complicated w/ the computer, but is not impossible to mod, you just need a tuner and someone who knows what they're doing. your friends dad probobly has no experience modding newer mustangs, but there is a lot of mechanics out there that have plenty of experience just gotta find one.

Your friend's Dad is correct. Ford spends a bunch of money in the development of these cars. But their corporate goals are different than ours. Ford is trying to optimize fuel efficiency, emissions, etc, at the lowest possible cost to maximize their profits. As owners, we are looking to improve the car's performance, and we have many options to achieve that goal. That's where the fun factor kicks in.
Could not say it different, just LOUDER!

I believe Ford built a good car given the EPA and Marketing requirements.....and with some cash and a few good mods you can make it into a great car.

if we had a 5.5 lt engine for our cars with the technology the 4.6 has, it would be a great engine no doubt.

The bottom line is that he was saying that mods to the engine might affect how the engine runs...
Exactly, that's why we do it.[sm=groupwave.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_stickpoke.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif][sm=happy046.gif]

The aftermarket these days is pretty reliable. If you do your research, you will soon be addicted.

The one thing I didn't see mentioned is also that Ford will make the car where the majority of the people will enjoy driving it. I know it's a sports car but some people want any car they buy to ride nice and quiet and have a soft suspension more like a luxury car. Yes modding it may put more of a strain on some things but that's why you either don't go that far or you beef up the components that will get the extra abuse. Yeah mods to the engine will affect how it runs but that's kind of the point of doing the mods.
