Default Tunes...Is There Really...

...a big difference? I.E. For a Steeda CAI can anyone speak to experience with a Brenspeed tune for that set up versus the Steeda tune for the SCT? I know a tune from a less experienced tuner may not be as good but is there really a difference with the top guys?

Yes, there is usually some difference from one tuner to another. Each tuner has "that secret" that they think makes the tune turn the car from ordinary to a monster. Realisitically, they all tune to make the car drive the way they like it to. Whileone may like to have more low end in my tunes, someone else may like top end, and someone else may simply tune for the highest numbers on a dyno. For every parameter that can be changed, you ask 10 tuners what their secrete is itand you'll get 12 different answers.

As GT bob said, there is a difference.

Remember that Steeda or SCT has to use a more conservative tune in the hopes of keeping the A/F ratio safe yet providing some added power. Brenspeed is more custom. My first tuner used the SCT tunes pretty much and it was lean on my car, Brenspeed's tune gave me way more SOTP down low, quicker throttle response and it screams in the top end, so all around way better and worth the dough.

Yes, I had the Steeda tune at first in 2005, than changed to Brenspeed. Rwhp went from 260 to 290. Needless to say, it felt like a different car too.

According to the tuner in Montreal, there is 4-5 rwhp from custom to canned SCT tune, proven on his dyno.

4-5rwhp is small enough to be a variation in the dyno so... hard for it to be dyno proven

I agree 4-5 is dyno error possilbly and every car is different too...i know i have the canned tune from predator for the C&L and barely noticed much change, but the B ama tune made the car a monster....so there was alot more than 4-5 HP there.

becuase i knew that this wasnt getting me any gains....as i stated i barely noticed the improvement and it was not like what people have discribed on the forum....i didnt get a holy **** feeling. So i got the 3 tunes from Doug and was convinced from there out that the canned tunes arent worth **** when you have to make them work for every other car out there.
