I have an 07 gt automatic and i was wondering how much it would cost to convert it to a five speed or mabey a 6 if possible, and how much work would be involved. Any help is appreciated

+1 would be easier/cheaper to just trade it in.

I just read an article last week in one of the Mustang Mags( I forget which one). The conversion was done but what a project! You need ALOT of stuff, including a new ECU. Definitely not worth the trouble IMO.

Why wouldn't you just convert to a nice 4r70?? Wouldn't cost too much and it blows away anothing else. You get to shift and have an auto all in one...

a factory torque converter won't allow you to rev up the engine in gear without trying to spin the tires. A stall converter that specified 3500rpm for example would allow you to rev to that rpm without tightening up and forcing the driveline. Like revving the car up to a good launch rpm in a MT car with the clutch depressed. Otherwise the auto cars would have to launch at a low rpm which would kill their 60 ft and overall 1320 times.

Nov. 07 5.0 Mustang magazine - yes, do-able, but major surgery..
