15K Mile Check Up. Is it worth taking the car in?
Here's the recommended check up.
[ul][*]Change engine oil and replace oil filter (up to 5 quarts of oil)[*]Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage, ball joints, suspension joints, half-shafts / drive-shafts, and u-joints[*]Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with underhood dipstick)[*]Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system[*]Inspect engine cooling system and hoses[*]Perform multi-point inspection[*]Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise[/ul]
I change my own oil and won't have them do it. Other than lubricating the joints and stuff, I don't see what all I can't do myself. Is it worth taking it in? Would it void the warranty if I didn't. How much does this check up normally run?
Thank you

Nah, not worth it IMO.
I mean, maybe a tranny flush would be nice, but not necessary.
I would say hold off on that one.
(I am at 11,000) and plan on waiting till my warranty is nearing its end. (Few months)

RE: 15K Mile Check Up. Is it worth taking the car in?
I've got just short of 25k on my '05 GT and have been changing my own oil. Never gave a thought to lubrication of non-seaked fittings. Reckon I thought Ford had used all sealed fittings. Are there Zerk fitting on the GT's? Anybody been there, done that? How many?
Thanks

My dealer said its $109 for their customers, I plan on getting the FREE oil changes every 5K (at least until the 30K service??) . By getting their 15K service I qualify to continue the FREE 5K service, so between the 3 oil changes at 15, 20 and 25K you will have spent close to that amount for your own oil.
Why not get the extras of the 15K service and the tire rotations (every 5K) done by Ford for no extra charge??

Update. Called the dealership, the cost is $70. Tech said all they do is change oil, airfilter, and rotate tires. Its not worth it.

I take mine into the dealer for the service. They change the oil, rotate the tire, and check all the fluids. They charge me about $40 and they have one of those quick lanes. So they can do it in about 30 mins. I usually use my lunch hour to get it done so its worth it for me. On the other had if you change your oil on your own no it's not worth it.
