I don't know about everyone else but a driveline can add hp to the rear wheels buy have less rotating mass it free's up hp to the rear wheels.
After rereading my original reply, that's what I meant. RWHP gain, not at the crank which I mistakenly implied. I do that alot these days... [sm=alcoholic.gif]

NOTE: The reason I was looking for the 3.5" is that I have heard that sometimes there are clearance issures with the 4" and I dont feel like hammering the underbody of my car.

If you read the info about the spydershaft, it talks about the clearance issue saying that they designed it in a way for this not to be a problem. I dont remember the specifics of how they did it but I will look again...click on the link a few posts up and read!

the only time there's any clearance issues is if the car has been lowered more than 1.5" and the pinion angle hasn't been corrected. a lot of guys have gotten away with it but i do recommend getting an adjustable UCA if you plan on dropping the car more than 1.5"
my driveshafts start at 3.5" then taper up to 4". that gives the necessary clearance for the shifter and e-brake etc.
i have tested them multiple times doing same day track tests and the GT's drop 2-3 tenths and the V6 cars drop 3 tenths even though their weight reduction is only 13lbs.
The gt shaft weighs in at approx. 16.5lbs. whereas the stock one is 43lbs.!!
dropping 20+lbs. of rotating mass in the driveline does gain a few hp but what it does is allow the engine to rev quicker while in gear. the best we get on the dyno is 8-10rwhp but the track tests and SOTP feel are what matters.

Is the install of the spydershaft a Do It Yourself type thing or no?

What are the chances that you can use a spidershaft with the pype's midmuffler system. I know the clearance is somewhat tight with the stock driveshaft.

I'd like to know about the install also. How hard is it?

You can do it in the garage but a Lift is worth its weight in gold on this project!!!

i guess that depends on your mechanical ability and what tools you have. here's a link to my website support section. it's a pretty good write up with pics and bolt sizes so you know what tools are required to do it. it's pretty easy for the most part.http://www.leonardracingproducts.com...structions.pdf
i'm not sure if it's listed on there but a small gear puller is nice to have when removing the stock flange. you can buy them at advaced auto parts for about $10. i use a timing gear puller and two of the stock bolts. it sure does work nice. i'll have them for sale on my site soon....once the updates get finished. here's a pic of what they look like.

i don't know about the pypes system but as many shafts as i've sold someone has to have tried it.

Thanks

spyder, I know you can't check on it but if it would fit with a mid muffler setup, I'd be buying one soon.I've heard so many problems about other shafts, and the fact that yours has alot of Ford Engineering (=money in r&d) behind it makes it the top one on my list, other than clearance problems with a midmuffler setup. If it'll fit with a mid muffler setup, then I'll prolly be getting after the begginning of the year. I'm trying to stick to about one or 2 mods a year till I graduate, and hopefully then I'll have a pretty well setup car for FI. But your driveshaft is definately high on my list of wants. Also, do you think it'll hold up to around 650-700rwhp?
