Default 05' GT Exhaust questions...

I just recently returned from Iraq and am looking at getting some axel-back exhaust work done on my car and am completely unsure as to what to get.

I heard that flowmaster and borla exhaust sound/look/preform the best but what kind of each and what diameter do I need?

ANY help would be apriciated

mahalo,
James

Well before some guys go bazzerk, you may want to try the search on the forums to listen to people's opinions and sound clips.

I like mac boom tubes..... One of the loudest, deepest, and non-raspy combos available

oh, and I also have a 2005 gt

I watched like 5 million clips of exhaust systems on youtube and still couldn't decide. Then I met a couple people with Flowmaster's on their GT's and I really liked the way it sounded. Not too loud, but louder than stock. So that's what I ordered (and they are still sitting in the box in my garage, hope to get them on this weekend!). My advice is to listen to them in person, the clips don't really help a lot IMO.

Welcome home and thanks for your service in iraq.............I would go to some mustang shows and cruise ins to hear what different systems sound like. Then you will be able to pick the one that gives the type of sound you want.

yeah man, like they all say here, cheers for what youve done. im in the same predicament, (05 gt as well) and ive been doing some homework. i talked to the guys at brenspeed and they say that 1) axelback exhaust wont increase performance at all since the stock exhaust already has decent flow and 2) flowmasters are no louder than stock. Im looking for a deep rumble sound without drone, so i might get corsas. borla is comprable i guess, but its all about preference when it comes to tone. check out recent forums and check youtube and brenspeed for soundclips. the best thing would be to hear it in person, but online is way more do-able. best of luck

We have Corsa's on the wife's stang and they are perfect. Not stupid loud but the sound is incredible. Now if it were my Mustang I would have something obscenely loud, just preference.

Listen in person.

BTW, I was in Africa while ALL of my friends from my unit were in Iraq, sucked--whatever.

Welcome home, keep up the good work and good luck with the exhaust endeavor!

OH---and if your bank account looked like mine when I came home, keep in mind you get what you pay for-mostly-with the mods. If what you really want is a little more, do it.

My two cents - I didn't want them too loud, just loader and deeper than stock and I hate the drone that most (aftermarket)make at slower highway speeds (50 - 60). To get the sound I wanted I went with theJBA Evol Axles backs and the drone was there. However, when I installed the JBA shortie headers (1 1/2" equal length) the drone went away. It appears thatthe cylider scavanging of the headers "irons" out the drone at that particular RPM/speed.Don't know if the same is true for LT headers though.
