Default RE: Air/Nitrogen In Tires???

Ratman is pretty much correct, nitrogen in the tires does maintain a more constant air pressure over a wide temperature range, meaning your tire pressure will fluctuate very little with temperature change. If you put 32 pounds of nitrogen in your tires it will stay near 32 pounds if it is 20 degrees outside or 95 degrees outside, tire pressure will stay the same even after a long period of driving. He is correct about the dryness of nitrogen and the degradation of the inside of the tire. Also, the drier environment of the inside of the tire also protects the sensor in the wheel for the tire pressure monitoring system. I installed nitrogen 12 months ago and had to adjust tire pressure only last week. Working in a facility that installs nitrogen makes it easy and cheap. I work at a ford dealer service dept.
