mod a paid off 05 gt or trade in the gt and get a shelby gt500 with a car payment?
Ok guys, I am really thinking about putting some serious money into my gt for suspension upgrades and in the very near future s/c. Before I go through with all this, I wonder if I should trade in my 05 gt, which is paid off, and get a gt500 and have a car payment. It's very nice to not have a payment, but I know if for some reason I ever wanted to sell the gt500, i would def be in a better situation as a modded gt doesn't really get much back. So what do you think?

For the trade in factor I would go with the Shelby. But I would mod the GT and have a faster car then the Shelby.

Mod, you will be lighter, faster, and more original. Anyone who has the money can buy a Shelby, but 55-60k is comical. Put 14-19k into your pony and you will be wayyy ahead.

Keep the GT. For the price differential you could have one killer motor and suspension. Forged internals, high boost, turbos, the works. No car payments too! Go at your own pace. If the GT500 was going for MSRP or less, it would be a harder choice.

Yes, keep the GT and mod it. I too have no car paymentand for much less than a GT500 I have more power and now I just need to do some suspension work and I'll be in good shape. Even with the suspension mods I'll be much cheaper than a 500. The other thing I like is the GT with mods is a sleeper which is something that I like. When you see a 500 you know it's quick and has power...but a GT you just never know. It could be stock or it could be making a ton of power. Just my opinion though.

As much as I want to say trade in and get the GT500, I think I would take your GT just a bit further. Wait a few years until the newer updated Mustang comes out. It probably won't be till after 2010.
