According to Motor Trend, Ford is working on an all new V8 that was called the Hurricane, they are now saying it may be called BOSS V8's instead, that will be used in the new Mustang and the F-150. When I get home I will try to find the exact issue that it was in and post it.

Yes, and it will compete nicely against the new Camaro and a 5.7L Hemi Challenger. There is a new muscle car war coming, unless OPEC stops it...again.

Hell, there are plenty of 6 bangers cranking out 300hp nowadays. 400hp will be the new 300hp soon enough. But then again, I'm sure in time we'll be measuring our cars power in kilowatts. [:'(]

I wouldn't mind the displacement, but I would want an all-aluminum motor as apposed to the iron block/aluminum head 5.4 in the GT500.

I agree that the Mustang will need 350 - 375 hp to compete with the 400 hp Camaro (heavier than the Mustang) and the 340 hp Challenger. But 4 valve heads will be more expensive than the 3 valve heads to produce. The additional hp will probably warrant stronger internals, which will further increase cost. Before you know it, the Mustang GT will be $35k for a coupe.

Isn't the only aluminum 5.4 in the Ford GT?

I'd expect Chyrsler toget more than 340hp out of the 5.7L hemi for the new Challenger. Not sure about the Camaro but 400hp is a fair estimate.

Nope, it is an iron block with aluminum heads. That is why it weighs 4,000 lbs!

Dodge/Chrysler is currently getting 340hp out of the 300/Charger with the 5.7L hemi. This base hemi motor should carry over into the Challenger. They will have an SRT8 version with their 6.1L hemi that produces 425 hp.
