Gear for turbo car

RE: Gear for turbo car
With a turbo, taller gears are always a better choice, street or track. The taller gear loads the engine faster, which spools the turbo faster. Faster the turbo spools, the faster you get HP. Personally, I would go for the 3.55's. Nice cruising rpm's, but enough of a gear that for the second or two your waiting on boost, you won't feel like your waiting for sex...
I had an old Mk II Supra that I slapped a turbo on.Switching from the factory 4.30's to a set of 3.73's, I went from a 13.7 to a 13.2 with no other changes. Turbo spooled better and I was able to put all the power to the ground without any concern.

A turbo car will usually be faster with taller gears because it loads the turbo better to build boost. I have 3.73 gears in mine as I was originally going with a TS. I will see how everything works out but I might go down to a 3.55 or even back to the stock 3.31. I would recommend going back to the 3.55’s.

To answer TurbostangGT's question. This is what I don't like about it. I know a turbo will only build boost under load (load from the engine). So i feel and think a taller gear will get me into MAX boost faster and keep me there longer.
Right now, I cross the line in 4th at red line (116 mph). That doesn't bug me, in fact it seems perfect. But with the turbo,it makes so much torque, I want it to keep pulling and pulling.
I got the 4.10's gears installed for free, so I can't complain I guess.
