Default blue smoke on startup

I have recently noticed taht after my stang sits for a day or so, it will get a puff of blue smoke out the exhaust. I fi rev it after startup (after oil pressure is up), I'll get some smoke but only for about 5 seconds.

I've been told that this is pretty normal with synthetic oil if the car sits for a while. I guess the synthetic oil can get by seals, etc easier than regular oil.

Has anybody else seen this?

no, synthetic usually should not leak out anywhere.

are you losing oil or oil levels dropping? as long as u're not losing any oil, u should be fine.

Nope, no oil on the floor and oil level hasnt moved. Car sits for a week or more between drives. This time it sat for about 24 hours.

I've seen that once or twice on my Stang at startup but I've seen it at every startup on another car I've owned from synthetic oil leaking past the valve seals, but it's no big deal. My ex went back to dino oil and it stopped.Only if it gets VERY bad and smokes for awhile would I get worried.

Same here. Only on start-up and doesn't last long. I noticed it more after it sits for a few days or if I just start it up for a minute and then shut if off and then start it back-up a few hours later.

Only happened twice on mine that I know of. Never did it when the car was stock. I've noticed that since the mods I have a small bit of soot on my exhaust tips.

Weather change! The engine is pumping more fuel into the injectors to start it rich!

That make a big difference as well! It may not be oil, you have to smell it to be sure, and that my friend can give you cancer[]

Mine doesn't really have any puffs of smoke on cold startups, but it does have a kind of "burning off carbon" smell to it. It also makes this smell when I run it upto 5K in any gear at 3/4 to WOT if I haven't cracked the whip with it for awhile. These cars really don't like being driven slow...lol
