Default RE: Winter Boost Project

Spent the afternoon on the dyno.
Best pull was 405 hp at 6250, 369 ft lbs torque 5000rmp on a Mustang Dyno (colder pull), when full hot pull was 397hp and 368tq. A/F was running around 11.6 to 12.0 on colder pulls, full hot pulls knocked off to about 11-11.6. Shop said this would be about 540 at the crank and about 440-460 on a dyno jet???
One thing that came up odd was the boost curve, by 3000 rmp 6lbs, 4250 6.5 lbs, 5150 6.25 lbs and 6250 7.5 lbs? All very smooth curves but the tip up slope of the graph from 5150 to 6250 is very obvious, seems like in the upper rpm's the boost comes up.

it would be nice to be able
to see the graph.....the rwhp
numbers are very nice, seeing how
you're under 8psi

Nope and it defeats the purpose for mounting in the engine bay (heat)should beout in front or under the radiator so it gets cool air to cool the S/C and make more consistent HP....JMO J- Not that it is not done but in front of the radiator just below it is best IMHO....

guys,

is there room under the hood for an intercooler?

I think those numbers look pretty good for 6psi on a mustang dyno, I would think torque might be a little higher but not too bad.

As far as your boost pressure dipping I only have 2 suggestions for a possible cause. Belt slip or an anomoly with the sensor. Did you shutdown the pull at 6250rpms? If so it could have caught the shutting throttle body that caused an increase of pressure in the inlet tube that you saw as an extra psi before it stopped recording. All conjecture but just trying to help.

I only took a hard copy of the results so here is a hot pull in 2 charts, one with AF and one with boost on right axis.

I like the look but I question the functionality of that intake. The entire wide bottom of that filter is less than an inch above the plastic shrowd, the top would be pressed against the hood liner, and the front is covered by the plastic cover. I don't see how that equates to good airflow. I'd like to see another dyno pull with the hood closed.

The 3.6" pulley should give you 7-8 psi, no more.
