Intercooler wiring?

Intercooler wiring?
Now that I have a couple days before I can wire in the intercooler pump that comes in the Saleen kit why do they have the lead go all the way back inside the car to the 'red/yellow'?
My dealer told me Saleen does not ship the delay box anymore that delays the start of the pump while starting the car? That being said why no go to the fuse box which is right above the pump and wire into a switched power source with an external fuse? This seems too easy there must be a resaon to go to the interior power wire?

RE: Intercooler wiring?
if i had to guess.....it would be because
it's the only place to find a wire with 12vdc
present, when the key is in either run
or accessory positions and no voltage when
the key is in the off position

RE: Intercooler wiring?
if i'm not mistaken, the whipple system
get's it's relay trigger voltage, from the
passenger side engine resistor (you splice in similarly
to the way saleen has you do it near the SJB)
i don't have a kenne bell install manual, so i'm
not sure how they do it, i would love to know though

RE: Intercooler wiring?
The whipple manual say:
Run relay ground toground
Run relay red wire to power in dist block
Run relay grey to passenger side resistor wire black and tie in.
Run 2 wire plug to pump.
Is the resistor wire a 12vdc+ swtiched power source? Or does the relay just trigger off this to power the red power wire?
If I can not get the actual harness that was missing I might try the defogger fuse as a tie in for switched 12vdc.

RE: Intercooler wiring?
i can't confirm it's 12vdc, but i'm pretty sure
it is.
now, the wiring guide calls the "resistor" a
Ignition Transformer Capacitor and the
description "Voltage supplied in Start and Run
(overload protected)" is the same description given
for pin 21 (Red-Yellow) in the SJB compartment.
summary: yes it should work, but use your own
good judgement when deviating from your install
manual.....
