I think the check engine light they are referring to is the slow response from the front 02s, not the rear, i am not sure on this though

It's every 2 years here. I intend to keep the cats on all the time, but they told me I would fail anyway because I would get a Check Engine Light because the cats flow so much better than stock.

Here is what Brenspeed has said: (RED is me, BLUE is them)

Hello

I want to get your Kooks exhaust setup for my 07 GT. You guys told me before that I might get a check engine light because the cats flow so well. I was thinkng of getting your MIL eliminators to counter this.

I have 2 questions:

1. I want to be able to pass emissions. I know if you turn off the rear o2 sensors it will fail, but if you leave them on and I run the MIL eliminators, is it possible to pass emissions?

2. Is a different tune required to get maximum HP from the Kooks exhaust? (I have your 93 octane tune and JLT CAI already)

Unfortunately the MIL eliminators will not work on 07-08 cars. Without having direct experience with Ca. emissions I find it hard to advise you on this next step. Can you fill me in on exactly which type of test they will perform on your car. I know we have customers in Ca. running these with no problems at all.

Well I am no expert either when it comes to the emissions test. I am sure here in MD it is less strict that in CA. As far as I know with newer cars they just plug something into the diagnostics port under the dash to check for codes.

If I have the Kooks setup on the car, put the stock airbox back on, detune the car, and go to emissions, do you think it will pass?

Dave: There is still going to be 20%chance these headers will throw a code. Kooks say they pass emissions but with the sensitivity of these new cars we have seen an occasional light. Other companies may say something different, but I cannot guarantee an emissions pass in 100% of the cases.
