When I put in the tri-ax, will the short-throw shifter make any difference to something like this?

No, it will still do it. Don't use your tranny to slow yourself down even though it sounds pretty cool. Tranny cost less then brakes. Use your brakes. Get in the habit of putting it partially or all the way into 2nd when coming to a stop and either starting in 2nd or putting it into first. Someone explained it above, but it's very very nroaml. Every stick car I've driven does that. Same thing with reverse.

I have thought I was in first (lightly rolling to a stop) and then when (trying to) accelerating from stop realized it wasn't in gear. Now I always come to a complete stop before puting it in first, if I am going slowly I willdownshift tosecond. (If while stopped,theshifterwon't go into 1st I will pull it back into second and then into first, goes right in).

i have the same problem some times when i am in a red light. when it turns green i sometimes find it impossible to put it in first so i must put it in second and just realese my foot from the clutch and push it back it really quick then i can put it into first. i went to the dealer after my shifter was installed and they said i must return it to stock so they can check it.
