Sometimes when running that much higher octane gas than the tune is set for is bad for the car. The gas is not able to burn quick enough and can cause detonation
HUH?

Detonation is AKA PRE-IGNITION, SPARK KNOCK etc...

Higher octane rating gas burns slowerthan low octane, I'm not sure how slower burning fuel can cause pre-ignition, detonation, spark knock.

Please enlighten me...

True, octane is insurance. And dex is right, the knock sensors on these cars do their jobs well.

Anytime I've ever had a knock issue it was my spark plugs not my gas. I would check your spark plugs and make sure they are gapped properly and snug when you put them back in.

Well I'm using the 95 grade with the 91 tune to prevent anychance of detonation but since i'm no expert I thought what 06Saleen3Vhave said maybe correct. Anyhow, is it really possible the knock sensors or spark plugs could be the reason? I mean I still have very low mileage, I was thinking of another possibility, dirty fuel injectors? you know fuel lean causes detonation...

3v4.6lI've driven twice on the highway and it's fine, it turns 2600rpmsdoing about 70, 2000rpms at 55.
BTW the car is brutal now!! I cannot imagine what it'll do with F/I (and traction)

Apologies guys. I was actually on another thread on a different forum and I got turned around a little (not my excuse for being wrong though). The point I was trying to make was that I know the 95 octane would be burning quite a bit slower than the 91. I thought maybe this would cause malfunctionduringcombustionprocess (spark and timing off?)I would think.Detonation was definitely the wrong word. Again apologies gents [&o]

A bad tune from Brenspeed? haven't heard of anyone getting a bad tune from them before, I'm sure it's one of these factors:
1) Spark Plugs
2) Clogged injectors
3) Knock sensors?

I'll take it to the dealer to find out.

My thanks to 06Saleen3V and all of you for your help.
