Default superchargers on our 3V 4.6L / PSI/ and rwhp?

Hi guys,

I wanted to get your opinion about different superchargers ... not on what the market says or sales people ... it’s about you guys who have a SC on ur stangs and your experience.

Brands:
- Ford Racing Supercharger
- Kenne Bell 2.6L Big Bore Supercharger
- MagnaCharger Intercooled Supercharger System
- Paxton Supercharger System
- Procharger HO Intercooled Supercharger System
- Roush ROUSHcharger Supercharger Kit
- Saleen Series VI Supercharger
- Vortech Supercharger System
- Whipple Supercharger System

I wanna know what PSI ur running, and whats the RWHP???

Also, did you face any problems with your SC? and break downs?! what is the danger zone here???

thx.

I don't have an SC "yet" but I've been researching a lot and reading around on the forum. The highest HP recommended on stock internals is 450 rwhp. You listed every different type of SC there is centri, roots, and twin screw... Everyone has their own preference and you will get a lot of different responses. There is a bunch of threads on here.. When I was researching I read through hundreds of posts and watched countless videos of different SC's and I suggest you do the same before you decide on what you want. If you have a good shop near you try contacting them too.

vortech HO/435RWHP/10.2 PSI @ 6350 (MORE THERE I THINK) Custom Dyno Tune

best 1/4 12.35 @ 111 @ the track

best 1/4 Aeroforce gauge - 12.29 @ 110

0-60 sub 4seconds!

Love the balance of beasty uppper power and docile lower end.... no engine issues.... but adding the HP does create other issues. My rear end clutch packs are shot... upgrading to a trutrac

Can be harder to shift under high RPM due to engine/tranny twisting....

Its generally believed that 450 rwhp and 10PSI is about the max on the stock internals.

I haven't gone FI yet but will be going with the Whipple 10psi HO kit (same as hammeron). Probably in the next 3-4 months.

I like the fact you can bump up the boost later on if you decide to upgrade internals, the overall look, and that it has an awesome whine! Saleen would probably be my second choice.

How do you know the clutch packs are shot, one wheel spins? Nice to see the aeroforce gauge is pretty close to the drag strip time. I didn't get to test mine today on account of rain.

Oh, i have 538hp at the crank according to the aeroforce gauge. Getting the car dynoed a week from this Friday, hopefully. The whipple HO claims 500+hp at the crank so I have no reason to doubt the gauge reading. No problems in over 5k miles, but I think my stock clutch is wearing out.[:'(]

Tomorrow I order the Whipple HO, and will run the FRPP tune when its installed. I blame Hammeron and Moosestang.
I will use the 8 psi pulley when I run on the road course just to keep things a bit safer.
