Default Safe Install Mode

I have an SCT tuner...and i want to put it into what i call safe install mode. That is lower the rev limiter to 2500 so who ever installs my new radio doesnt drive to spirited. Is it possible to do that?

I went and got my windows tinted in my wrx, got my car back and they stripped two of the teath off of second gear. Not going to let that happen again.

if your sct dealer left that option
as user adjustable, you will be able
to do it....

Do i have to use the CD that came with it? I was trying to do that, but the lowest i could drop the rev limiter was to 5800 rpms.

i know a couple of guys have gotten valet mode
tunes on their sct's, so that part is good to go

if brenspeed emails you your tune and the
adjustability is there, your golden.

see your local sct dealer for details

i havn't a clue.....the only thing i would say,
is that the sct is a generic tool used
on many different makes and model vehicles.....

You might not be able to lower the rev limiter that low. It would be difficult to even drive it set that low, but then again they shouldn't need to drive it to install a radio right.

I'm worried about getting 4 new tires installed on the stock rims. Obviously someone will have to test drive it after the install and I don't want my car to end up in a ditch or wrapped around a tree. I think i'll just talk to the owner before hand and make sure he does the test drive.

Just wait for the tire change, its very fast to change 4 tires.[:-]

This thread reminds me of this accident with a friends car, my friends car is the red one and that bimmer had a stop in that corner and he didnĀ“t care about it, the worst part is that the car was being "tested" by this noob test guy in a BMW dealer a few blocks away and he was just driving like mad, he mustĀ“ve been doing 60mph in a 30 mph zone. I bet he got into serious trouble after that !
