5 speed = Auto and Stick, choose your words wisely!

Ever plan on doing a road course or 2? Get the stick.

Stick FTW!

I have a Hurst Short-Throw in there and it makes shifting that much better. I also have the 3.55 and it can do a burnout going into 2nd gear.

This is my second car and my first stick. I had a 2000 Lightning before this and it is just much more enjoyable with stick.

Sure an auto would be easier to drive, especially in Los Angeles traffic, but who cares. Your driving a Mustang, IMO it begs to have a manual tranny.

Good luck on the decision whatever it may be...

Not really. The Auto has 4 gears (4 speed) with OD. OD is NOT a gear.

I beg to differ. The OD in the automatic is a distinctly separate ratio (see below, manual tranny info provided for comparisons), and the automatic is clearly identified by Ford in its brochure as being a
5-speed automatic transmission. The first '5' in the transmission's 5R55S designationrepresents the number of gears. The 4-speed automatics were either 4R70W or (further back) AOD/AODE, where the overdrive was still a separate gear (around 0.7 IIRC). I swapped an 5.0/AODE into my daughter's '66 Mustang some years back.

Reading what your first post was, I am currently in the process of trading in for a 06 GT (badass red) w/ stick. They didn't have a black on black used GT (sob). I can't take it anymore, the itch for a GT with a stick again is too much. It's beel about a year without stick and I can't do it anymore. It's just not as fun driving an automatic. I found myself about 50% of the time (usually in the city) trying to use my auto as a stick and I am like "What am I doing?!?!" I miss the clutch...

I am getting a used GT since it's of course cheaper, won't raise my monthly's up TOO much, my car as is would trade in pretty close to what a used GT is at right now used. The only drawback is what I paid for it new last year after my trade in. It's still not going to be that hard of a hit. I figured I would rather spend the money modding out a GT than my auto.

I said "elsewhere" that I wouldn't trade in my v6 for a long time, which would have been true until I did some researching on prices for used GT's, the insurance for them @ my age (and when I turn 25 this year). All things considered, it is affordable for me now. So now I have to bite my tongue and try to let go of my first mustang! :P

I'm only doing it because I am getting a good deal lmao. (I bet the salesment tell that to all the people).

Ummmm . . . drivers don't normally rummage through the glovebox. Passengers do. [sm=bustedsign.gif]
