Amsoil or Royal Purple?

Sorry, I don't mean to start a war. I was just curious what others do based on what I do. My dealer tells me every 3K so that's what I've been doing (except the last time).
I'm thinking I'll just go to like 5K for a while. During the summer when it's hot (and boy does it get hot in Tx) I'll go back to 3K since I do quite a bit of stop and go traffic.
25K miles doesn't seem right to me. I can't see how ANY oil, synthetic or not can last that long in a very hot engine for that many miles. I'm sure the engineers behind that oil know more than I do about that kind of thing, but I would never go that long on one set of oil. To me, 6K is puishing it in a car like the GT. But that's just me.
I used to also put 2K miles each month on mine. But I now work at home two times a week and that has helped a lot. I'm so glad I can do that.

Again, best way to determine your oil change interval is doing the oil analysis. Its really easy. I've always went a minimum of 5k with fully synthetic oils on all of my family's cars. (with synthetic oil filters) This is ALL Houston city/traffic/stopngo driving. Synthetics have greater durability to heat than blends or conventional.

No matter which forum I'm on, Harley, Ford, Chevy - the oil threads are always interesting too say the least.[sm=bicker.gif]

[sm=yikesomg.gif]WOW really!? that sucks! I use Mobil 1 as well and have no complaints! But RP and amsoil are great and I have read amsoil has been used for years in the racing business!

I just did my first change on the new car @2500 miles.
Went with 6qts of Mobil 1 5w20, and a Motorcraft filter = $36.xx

RE: Amsoil or Royal Purple?
To go the 25,000 miles that Amsoil advertises, it would be very wise to use the dual filter set-up. The second filter takes 10% of the oil flow. It filters down to 1/10th of a micron. Logically thinking, since the oil itself is able to stand the test of time, but you go and throw on just any filter, you will lose the ability to go the distance because of all the crap the crappy filter allows to go through. Now, use that second filter and, wah-laa! Since the oil stays cleaner, and for a longer period of time, it will hit the 25,000 mile mark. And then some!(with oil analysis) Truckers REGULARLY go past 100,000 miles using Amsoil. Its been documented over and over.
Thats my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
