I would say typical install and dyno tune costs anywhere from 750-1500 dollars. I paid the later number (install and dyno tune) but was real happy with the results and I fix/repair/replace parts on humans not our stangs for the most part. If I were a patient needing a heart transplant I would go to a heart transplant specialist. Same thing for my baby and I left the install to my expert/installer/tuner and was very satisfied! JMO but I am a lazy too and would rather pay someone to do it instead of reading the directions. Plus I have few tools to do the job correctly and efficiently....J

hey thanks for asking

yes, i did my own whipple HO kit install
in the comfort of my garage. i took 8
days to do it, because i'm a network
guy not a mechanic

yes, after i bolted it on, i flashed my PCM
with the FRPP supplied tune and have been
running it for almost 8 months now....

this kit on a mustang dyno made 411 rwhp 417 ft/lbs
with the 91 oct tune and 10psi pulley....

good luck and i hope you get your whipple

you could do that kit on a weekend,
no sweat.

check the internet for best pricing....there
is also a ford dealer who sells this kit at a
discount....
you mean to to the bolt-ons myself and then justflash the out-ofthe-box tune that comes with s/c and no custom dynotuning?
is that how your whipple was done?

If this is the kit Ford has it rated at 500HP (engine) then shouldn't you get more than 411 at the wheels? I would have figured no less than 450. The GT500 is rated at 500 at the engine and the dyno results are like 460 or something close.

Ok I'm guessing those display less HP for some reason. I don't really know much about the different kinds of dynos. I've yet to be on one myself.

yeah Knight, i've heard that the mustang dynos
can result in a lower number compared to a dynojet.

this summer i want to get it on a dynojet, during
one of those open house/dyno days (2 runs for $40)

In orlando I was quoted between $800-$1500 to install a Whipple HO or a Saleen.

I would say if you are anywhere near Brenspeed I would do one of their Saleen kits in a heartbeat with the $650 install. If not shop around. Like MYGT500 said dont necessarily bring it to the lowest bidder because you want it done right. Luckily the lowest priced shopped was one I liked so I am getting mine installed at the end of this month.

I wussed out of doing the install myself because my wife would kill me if I messed something up. And I am OCD and if I did it myslef I would do it like Hammeron and take a week to do it. Since the car is my DD I need it turned around quicker than that.

Good luck,

And PM me if you have any Whipple questions.

Warning UNSOLICITED ADVISE
I did tons of research on the non-intercooled whipple and intercooled whipple. Short version is you should just get the HO. For one if you ever want to upgrade in the future it will cost you an extra grand more to get the upgrade kit. Also having an intercooler while not required at low boost is great to have.

Personnaly I am doing the whipple HO kit and running it at 8psi. I figure this should give me 420ish rwhp and should be plenty safe for the parts.

I dont want to get too far off track so PM me if you have any more Whipple questions.

yes......toyota tundra DD, FTW!

also, i would hate for you to take 9 days and
have the honor of the longest install, which i
now enjoy

the 400 from ford comes with 1yr warranty on s/c AND keeps the complete car warranty
the 500 has no warranty on s/cand voids car's warranty, as i understand[:-]
the stang is my DD so warranty is important to me
and 400=>500 is easily upgradeable (2k$ though [:@]) so i fugure when the warranty is used up andthe 400hp(crank) will severely limit my driving enjoyment, i will upgrade (and will _not_ be itching to get a camaro/challenger few years from now[&:])[sm=guilty.gif]

I had my Paxton installed by Brenspeed and believe it was around $700-$800. Well worth it as I've had no troubles since. I believe he is doing the Saleens now for $650.
