Default Well why not?

Having more cubic inches is a dream for us, now instead of the $5k-$6k for a supercharger, how about having a 5.8L Modular under the hood? check outMMR's new 351ci modular block in thier website, main page, scroll down...

And since 302 strokers are reported to gain around 30-50hp and similar torque gains, I can only imagine what a 10:1-11:1 compression 5.8L with cams and heads will feel like!!

lol thats funny you should mention that..I was thinking of just dropping all the SC money into a motor instead of just SCing a stock motor being 'only' limited to 10 psi max,i was thinking..
whats the point? why not just have a built motor and have the option to boost it to high heaven with no worries? lol..

Since most of us can not afford to build the motor and supercharge it at the same time thenthey gowith easy power then save some money to build the motor. after all, who can resist the temptation of having 450hp at the wheels?[sm=drooldude.gif] or the paitence to build the motor then save money to supercharge it later? 302s stroked to 331 that i've seen for sale all claim in excess of 400HP

Of course you could always go to a milder cam and results are less. I like the idea of a 351 but it'snot so much will it fit into the bay but the expense of everything else needed to make it work correctly.

I'm a purist that believes Ford should have increased the CI of the current motor so it was 289 cubic inches or 302 and also offer a 351. The displacement would be old school but technology new. now that would really add to the retro theme.

^^ Thats what they are doing in the future...haha, funny you should say that...

Ford will be bringing a modular 302 in the coming generations of Mustangs.

If the 5.4 fits into the S197, then every other engine that was ever put into a Mustang will fit.
Since you guys are talking about pushrod engines, a stroked 427 (or even 460)from a 351W block will definetly move that S197 forward a bit.
Such engine will produce about 600 reliable ponies N/A and a pant load of torque.
To save money, a carburetor will work fine, so no headache with wiring.

Now if you went with that, what other things would you have to upgrade on your car to make everything work smooth?

The block is $3300 itself. Total engine would be very expensive.
