Did anyone notice that the speedo reads faster than the GPS while going around bends or curves in the road? My friend's Garmin Nuvi 200 reads shower than the speedometer on bends, but is almost dead-on on straight roads. I think its because the speedometer reads from wheel rotations, which i would think is most accurate. I could be wrong, but i was guessing that the gps looks at the vehicle's net displacement and calculates speed based on distance traveled vs time elapsed. I would guess that the gps calculated speed at invervals, maybe every second?(no idea) so if you go around a bend, in theory your distance traveled is greater than your net displacement (as the crow flys) by a small amount, resulting in the speed difference.
