CAI & tune, no doubt. I have the C&L and really like it, but i dont think there is much difference in gains between most of the cai's that require a tune. one of the mustang magazines did a comparison on i think 10 of the cai's and there was minimal difference, you can probably find it in a search or im sure someone here can getcha a link to the article. i went with the c&l cause it was one of the only ones that wasnt made of plastiC and it seemed more durable imo, but then heat soaking may be an issue in hotter temps (which we have in texas). steeda has a carbon fiber elbow that looks pretty sweet, but C&L and jlt are by far the most common. just make sure you get one that DOES require a tune.

I was wondering the same thing as GTtorch06, and the advice here is great. If given a budget of $1200 are there any mods outside of the CAI and tune that yall would recommend?

Personally if you plan to stay n/a, I'd recommend CAI, Tune, Gears and new shifter - that might be a little more than $1200.

+100000!!
If you are staying n/a, this would be my priority list...
1. CAI/Tune
2. Gears
3. TC for auto / clutch/flywheel for manual
4. Good Rubber
5. Aluminum driveshaft
6. Good upper and lower control arms
7. Panhard bar
8. Springs
9. Good Shifter for manual or skip to 10 for auto
10. Tubular K member and a-arms

RE: First mod
Excellent, I love getting advice from the people here. As far as my goals, I'm more h/p minded than handling minded, probably not going to be going the FI method anytime soon at least. So, your recommendation of the CAI, tune, gears and new shifter might really work out.
Not that I wouldn't love to throw a supercharger on her, but that's a tad out of my price range for now.
And can I get a consensus on where the most reliable place to shop for mustang performance parts is?
Thanks.

RE: First mod
As long as you get the right parts, then honestly the best advice is to shop around and get the best price...
If you are going with a canned tuner like brenspeed or bama or something, then I would buy the parts from them and try to work a package deal.
