RE: vin break down
This isn't much help but at least it shows you how the VIN number is broken down:
VIN Legend
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1 - World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) = first 3 digits
2 - Restraint Type Code = 4 digit
3 - Vehicle Line, Series, and Body Type = 5th 6th 7th digits
4 - Engine Code = 8th digit
5 - VIN Check Digit = 9th digit
6 - Model Year Code = 10th digit
7 - Assembly Plant Code = 11th digit
8 - Production Sequence Number = last 6 digits

RE: vin break down
If you take your VIN to the Ford part dept. ask them to run a HVBoM report. It will list all the equipment and equipment codes that the car was built with. In my attchments will show you what the report will look like. I did reformat the information and printed it on blank certificate paper.
