Oil Cooler??
Had the idea on my mind for a bit...
Anyone using one? I know they were popular on the older style stangs, but i havent heard, or read about them on the new modular motors.
Is it needed?
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys

RE: Oil Cooler??
I did about a dozen datalogs two years ago. Oil temp was one that I monitored. I did several 0-100mph runs at full throttle. The oil temps stayed where they should be, nothing extreme. Now, I had a Grand National and that thing ran HOT all the time. I used a pure synthetic and it would still turn the oil black @ 3000 miles. (yesterdays technology). I had a huge oil cooler on that thing.
IMO, unless you have some major work done, (supercharger, turbo, stroked...etc) or you race alot, an oil cooler is just not necesary for this generation stang. Although, Im sure someone else will chime and give a response, too.

RE: Oil Cooler??
I tend to agree, especially on the stock motor.
One thing I do with all my builds though that you might want to think about on a new build up motor is adding oil squirters...
I do this to all my motors and basically it's sending the block out to the shop to be machined with oil squirters. The system is the same that comes in just about every single factory turbo car made and the Ford GT super car comes with them stock. The average price at a good shop is about $500.
What are the benefits? It cools your pistons up to 200º...
