Default cams

I do have some knowledge with engines... but I dont know much about cams. What would the total cost be for a set of cams that are a little more than mild street cams but not something so far as to say its only for the drag strip? And I ask this question to find out what exactly I would have to buy along with the cams + install. And also what would ya'll recommend the biggest cam be for a daily driver car. Thanks

Also I do plan to supercharge eventually but I want to do other things first and I read somewhere that certain cams dont do well with a supercharger so take that into consideration too

Im no expert on cams, but I do know from reading the poston here, that cams for our cars are VERY expensive. Apparently, its a very intense labor project to have them installed, plus the cost of the cams. ($1200)

When its all said and done, plan on spending at somewhere around2 grand for 30hp.

Im sure someone with more extensive knowledge will chime in, too.

Apparently the high labor cost required to install a new set of Cams is due to replacing the valve springs. If you go with a set of Cams that don't require new springs, the install is much cheaper. This info comes from Brenspeed.com.

I just returned from Brenspeed around 3 wks ago after getting the NSR cams installed on my S/C'd car. I picked up around 26 h.p. and 40 torque. The cams and install for NSR cams are considerably cheaper than replacing the springs, right at 1000.00 total. Go to Brenspeeds site and click on customers and my car is at the top, you can check out the gains on the Dyno-Graph.

I have seen the Brenspeed NSR cams and I don't really want those. I want something where I need springs but I dont want something too big to where I get terrible gas mileage.

Personally I'd like to have the BBR Stage 2, which requires new springs. I like the way the car sounds with them and according to BBR, they've seen 375+ rwhp with their stage 2 cams combined with the basic bolt ons and their better flowing heads too. Check it out here: http://www.blowbyracing.com/bbr-3v-cams.html

I'm very interested in getting these cams but I wonder if it would be ok to have a whipple with these. I want both.

Oh BTW, they also offer billet versions of this cam for a few hundred more. I'd go with the billet myself. I've heard too much bad about regrinds, but maybe these would be ok. I don't know.
