So I guess my problem is only mine.

Anyway, autos will have a certain amount of whine to them. I hear a whine when I'm taking off slowly but it happens only in 1st or 2nd maybe. However, this is the exact same whine I heard on my previous 1995 mustang v6 auto. Autos just whine.

These other SSHHH noises I have though are not normal to autos.

I have an '06 auto, and I do hear a whining noise at times. It mostly happens when I accellerate up to about 40-60 MPH and then let off the gas. When I let off the gas and the car begins to coast, that's when i hear the whining noise.

Is this the same thing you're hearing? It is quote annoying, but the good thing is that I usually have the radio on fairly loud, so it's not that bothersome.

Over 36k miles on mine. No problems whatsoever! No whine. I just hope it stays the same when I switch to 3:73's.

That sounds like rear pinion noise. It can make noise either way.
At first, when new, my Mustang would make a "woop, woop, woop" sound when I let off the gas.
The dealership put in new stock 3.31's and now it has a faint whine under acceleration that goes away when I let off the gas!

I just saw that Galpin has 19 Bullitts at their dealership... both colors... hmmm...

My car does have a slight whine when it gets up around 40mph, but goes away as soon as I ease off the gas just a tad, then it doesn't come back typically. It's been doing it for about as long as I've had my car (2 1/2 years, 17,500 miles), and has never created any other issues. Seems to me like another minor quality control issue, to go along with all the other rattles and squeaks that these cars seem to sometimes have. It hasn't affected anything, and the sound isn't too loud to be bothersome, so I've just let it ride for now.

Mine has the noise. I don't consider it a flaw or a problem.

Every 5r55 I've heard makes this noise to some extent. My GT does it a little bit and my 4.6 explorer also makes this noise. To take it a step further, the old AODs make the same kind of noise only they do it from 1st to 2nd.

It's been my experience that mostFord auto trannys make "weird" noises. I dont think you have much to worry about. Ask the dealer if they have another autostang like yours you cantest drive. I bet it will make the same kind of noise, if it doesnt askthedealer, "if this noise is normal, how come this one doesnt do it?"
