Default Pulled my plugs @ 15K and...

Here are the results. I'm putting in a nitrous kit, so I pulled them to switch to a colder heat range plug and this is what I found. They are wet because I soaked them with PB Blaster before attempting to remove them. None of them stuck or were unreasonably hard to remove.

It's carbon buildup but it's wet because it is soaked in PB Blaster.

Hi guys...long time viewer, infrequent participator...but enjoy reading the forum! The spark plug thing has got me concerned. I've only got a little over 5k on my 06 GT and I would like to know why the plugs are getting carbon fouled after such as short period of time. Is this because of a tune? Would a tune help the condition? I am very close to getting a C & L inatke and tune from BAMA this kind of heightens my concern. I have anF150 that actually spit a plug out at 120K 3 yrs ago...(I blamed the dealer for damaged the threads...got me nowhere!) I don't want to run into the same issues. Thanks!

are they supposed to be that black? OEM service schedule says to replace them at like 100kmiles, but they should be toast by then from the way they look at 15k...

hey scrmngt, long story short.....

you might want to get a set of champion 7989
plugs and replace your current set

do you have to? no
should you? if you're not sure, then read the past threads
regarding plugs and then decide if it's right for you

They aren't fouled and they are supposed to look like that given our head design. If you use a high detergent gasoline, or add techron evey month or so, they will be cleaner IMO and should come out easier as a result.

Okay...I know we're comparing apples and oranges...but here it goes. I fly an ultralight with a 503 rotax two stroke. Too much carbon and soot=rich condition...whiteish powder=lean condition...tan colored insulator=good air/fuel mixture. How does the head design play into whether the plug have crap all over them. Just trying to learn...thanks

You might get some help by putting a oil/air separator inline of the PCV system. Many as are experiencing plug oil down problems. I had idle issues because of it. Mine were'nt that bad but still too oily until I put a catch can inline.
