Default 3.2 pulley questions

I have Saleen s/c installed and dyno tuned by brenspeed I was running the 3.4 pulley but have switched to the 3.2 pulley. I was getting 8 psi of boost with the 3.4 and now getting 10 psi on the 3.2 Im under 460 rwhp and have a boost a pump, long tubes and a steeda intake but have been reading on other forums that 3.2 pulley is to much for the stock internals so what to you guys think stay with 3.2 or go back to the 3.4 also anyone thats running 10 psi of boost and 460 + rwhp please chime in and let me know how long you have been running like this and if there has been any problems I really think Im fine with the 3.2 but some of the posts I read has me thinking

3.2 is pushing it from what I read....however your boost numbers are really conservative....where do you live at....just curious as I am getting 7.5 avg on a 3.6 pulley and have peaked at 8+++psi at higher rpms WOT....I had a 3.4 pulley that would have got me to 9.5+psi but I sold it as I too was concerned on the stock internals and the weak input shaft on my tranny....others have done it without issue, but I have read many horror stories where things went boom....there are a few guys on here that are runing 460rwhp++ on stock internals....good luck...

I am only running the 3.8 pulley but making 6.5psi, so I can't offer you any advice other than what I have read. Which is the 3.2 is pushing it, but sounds to me like your boost numbers are a little low like cheftjpeck mentioned, you must be in some alititude. But if you have a good safe tune you should be ok at least for a while.

I have about 11 psi on a whipple H.O. and running about 465 RWHP. I have been fine so far 2000 miles and 7 months and no worries. I have to tell you that other than getting on the gas from time to time I have not run her real hard and use the car for show and like to have the extra HP. For me its not all about times and numbers but just wanted a faster car and I do have one now! I liked the car stock but the weight it carries needed more HP IMO.... stock internals and will forge when have the money and want to up the boost to 15 psi.

If your boost and hp numbers are indeedwhat you say they are, then leave the 3.2 pulley on, you're fine.

+1, where are you, Denver?? I have a 3.6 and make 7-7.5 in the higher RPMs.. A 3.2 on my car would make somewhere 11-12 I'd think.. I know LT's cost you a little boost, but you're way off..

And if you're at 457 with the 3.2, then there's got to be something else going on, because I'm 434 with a 3.6... ???

I would stay under 10psi and you should be fine. I'm running the 3.0 and making 10psi but I'm at 3300ft above sealevel. Stick with the 3.2.

I've been running the 3.2 for over a year. Getting 10lbs out of it and putting down 480. I know there are a few JDM customers running a 2.95 pulley on stock internals as well.

You still using the stock tensioner and w/p pulley with that 3.2 upper pulley?

I'm getting 8+ lbs boost on a 3.6 pulley which I think is normal for that size. I would think with a 3.2 pulley you should potentially be at11+lbs boost and just about 485 rwhp (or more with a custom tune).

And I agree with RedStang06, with a 3.2 pulley you might want to consider an ST Motorsports or Thumprrr tensioner.
