i sometimes have the same thing.

my hypothesis: its the Charge Motion Plates sticking.
could be. looking at my stock intake, those plates are a little dirty and at only 3500 miles.

An internal combustion engine with charge stratification and directed air flow is provided. A charge motion control valve is positioned in the upper intake manifold and bifurcated intake ports are utilized in the cylinder head which direct the air flow into one intake port when desired. This provides improved engine performance, emissions, and fuel economy with easier packaging and consequently reduced cost. Its a sign of the times. In an effort to be more effeciant, ford took on the Charge motion plates and the industry standard drive by wire.. Your new edge was older technology, these would be the upgade. You can rid yourself of them though... Get some cmcv deleteshttp://www.steeda.com/products/steed...ion_plates.php

I had the same problem until I got the Diablosport custom tune. I can duplicate it by leaving the Traction Control on. It give a terrible hesitation on hard acceleration.

Is this to say if I leave traction control off I would not have the issue? As a newb, it doesn't seem to make sense that the sticking plates would be related to traction control.

I believe what he means is that HIS hesitation problem appears to go away with the TC off. There's no logical connection between the TC and the CM plates. The plates alone still may be separate issue related to hesitation.

its only happend twice to me after i had the fuel pump replaced so im guessing that maybe i had bad gas or water in the gas maybe? i turn traction control off all the time. traction control wont affect you when you are on the highway though will it as far as hesitation goes will it? im starting to think that its natural to have some hesiation in these cars now due to drive by wire and the adaptive learning

Ummmm...isn't this more due to the drive by wire throttle than the fuel pump? I believe a tune would fix this.

This may really sound off the wall but turn off your traction control. I had several hesitations quite frequently on any given day and now that I deactivated the traction control my car doesn't stall at all. I thought it was something mechanical but all it was , was the car loosing traction and the traction control activating making my car laid down literally.
