Default Mcloed Twin Disc

Anyone know the right part number for the 05-08 GT Mcloed Twin Disc?

Best place to buy?

And approximate install cost including resurfacing of the stock flywheel?

Also anyone who wants to write their thoughts on it that would be great.

Thanks,

Summit sells the RST twin-disc setup for like $719. I spoke to a local speedshop, and was told $350-400 for install, including resurfacing the stock flywheel.

Hammer,

I have heard good stuff about Spec, but a few people have told me they are very picky about break in. Do it wrong and you could have alot of problems. Do it right and you are golden. Plus I have heard they can get some chatter. That is probably more on the 3+, than the 2.

The Mcloed on the other hand I have heard drives like stock and cant find anyone with a bad experience. Plus it will hold over 800 ft lbs of torque so no worries there. It is more money but is actually really reasonable for a twin disk, and you can use the stock flywheel.

I plan on going that way just for peace of mind.

Plus if I ever hurt my shortblock, I will get a built 298ci so I figure the extra margin is worth it. I dont know when you plan on getting yours, but if you have a while I will let you know how I make out. Probably doing it with in 4 months. I cant tell if mine is slipping too much or not, but I want to swap it out so I can go to the 10psi pulley and get a dyno tune. I am worried the stocker might give out on the dyno.

My car can defineatly use 50 more rwhp. After all that and some slicks I will go to the track and see what it will do.

So anybody have the part number? I want to start pricing it, and then start getting some quotes from shops on install. Need to know how much $$ I have to save.

Thanks,

I have the Specs II + and aluminum flywheel in my car and it holds fine but it does not seem to disengage completely even with the shim, personally the thing is a POS, I would not recommend it to anyone.

sac, thanks for your input on the spec II....
i know moose is EXTREMELY picky and if
there is the smallest of problems with
the spec II setup, he'll let us know and
at that point i'll write it off for good.

i want to do the clutch myself, but am waiting
for moose's taco style write up

Did you replace your slave cylinder when changing your clutch. You could have a slow leak causing your disengaging problem. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the clutch, that's all.

Also if it's only 3rd gear then i'd think the transmission to be the problem. If the clutch isn't disengaging then it's not going to work right in any gear.

Will start in 1 week from tomorrow! I'm excited. I'm glad I bought the trans jack because if there's a problem I'll need it to pull the tranny again. Spec told me that I do not need any shims with this clutch using their flywheel so I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. I'm replacing that slave cylinder for the hell of it, what's another $100.

I don't have the 2+ like sactown so i'm not quite sure what to expect. I couldn't really find anyone using the stage 2. Most go with 2+ or 3+. I just didn't see the point in going with such a strong clutch for my power level. I'll do a full right up with many pics and opinions. I've got mad photography skills so prepare to be amazed.
