Pretty sure this is what I have:

I remember using the oem bushing for connecting the shift lever.

I have the tri ax. It did exactly what I wanted it to shorter, stiffer shifts.

Almost a year with my tri-ax.
-Its slightly, and i mean slightly louder then stock, nothing that bothers me.
-Less Vibration then stock (since i have none now)
-No noise when shifting unless im slamming gears (you can hear it hitting the stop bolts)
-No fumes, or exhaust or toxic waste flowing into my car like others have pointed out.

I agree with the poster who said to check the install. I had tweaked with my shifter2 times to get it perfect. I had to re adjust the stop bolts, and then add a little spacer on the 5th gear/reverse side of the mounting hole to straighten it out a little better and make 1 & 2 and 5 & R easier to work with.

If your shifter is shaking and vibrating all over the place, its not installed right.

I hate to be the one to tell ya
But almost every performance mod you do is going to increase NVH, noise and viberation.
Good luck.

ORIGINAL: Burnsy

yeah, but I have heard the exact same complaints for the MGW... my question is, how does the hurst fair in this regard?
I've only heard of ONE complaint about the MGW, and by that guy's own admission, he fu(ked up the install..

For the record, NVH= Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. Your [misspelled] statement above must've accidentally been written by the department of redundancy department.

I think those with minimal compliants about Tri-ax NVH probably have the stock bushings in the forward transmission mount, which would make a world of difference.

My installation is not the problem, having bushings with about as much flexibility as concrete is the problem.

My experiment with Dynomat was pretty successful. I placed some on top of the rear bracket and reinstalled the shifter so there is no longer direct metal on metal contact. You could use many different substances to accomplish this but the main point is getting some type of insulation in there. Second, I dynomatted around the shifter like TacoBill did. I completely covered the gap around the shifter so only the shift handle sticks through. Finally I dynomatted around the console to make it fit tighter. I'd say I reduced the NVH by half with just an hour worth or work. I still get some harmonic vibration atcertain rpms, but it's liveable.

Sorry to hear that.
FWIW I've had the tri-ax installed for 10 months, about 5k miles.
-slight (i mean slight) increase in NVH, nothing like what you describe
-no fumes whatsoever
-boot fitment is fine
-yes I had the polyurethane bushing kit installed

My only remaining question is what shift handle to get. I still have the stock handle so it looks, well, stock unless you know what you are looking for and can spot the shortened throw when in gear and parked. won't go black or white cue and I find the steeda assortment, well lame. one day I will see one that I really like to get an inspiration to make custom piece.
