I do it all the time. But that's b/c I live down a 2 mile dirt road. It sucks b/c the car stays dirty and the road is very rough which has introduced all kinds of squeeks and rattles. Not to mention what it's doing to my shocks.

yeah moose, they finally got smart and put a check gas cap light for the specific code. If yours is not on, I suspect it to be something else. Time to break out the smoke machine! Thats what we use at the shop to fine evap system leaks. smoke the system and look for leaks.

No theres a service port for the evap system.
Im pretty sure all the S197's have the gas cap light.

I picked up a locking cap from Ford for a 2007 F-150...it was a bit more than the Autozone cap, but it's a nice piece. Has a tether like the stock cap and everything. One of the dealers here gives our Mustang club a 25% discount on parts, so it wasn't totally outrageous.
