As hammeron said, earlier in this thread - if there was one available at MSRP when I bought my GT, I would have bought it and then, at this time, I would have a 2 1/2 year old GT500 with over 74K miles. Drive it until it dies and then fix it better!

the gt500 has the same rods the gt has, it has 4v heads which let it breath better, and hold it togehter, it has a forged crank and a forged pistons, but not rods, the rods are forced steel not forged

I really think that if I would have ended up purchasing a GT500 for sticker then I would have still done some of the mods that my 08 currently has (short shifter, lowering springs, axel backs and cold air intake)
I'd rather just have a mustang gt with the gt500 motor.
