Default Shaker system with CAI

I recently picked up my brand new 2008 GT/CS. I've already put a K&N CAI system in it. I'm looking at putting a shaker system onto it also. Are shaker and CAI systems compatable at all, or is it once you go CAI with a shaker, the shaker becomes purely for show.

Thanks
Mark

Purely for show but you can use them together!

Yes they definitely can be used together. Whether just for dressup or not I love the look of the shaker good choice. Just make sure you have someone you trust cutting into your hood.

Thanks for the info, instead of messing around with the whole hood cutting thing, I think I'm just gonna do it the right way, and go with the Cervini's Kit. That way I have a hood to go back to if I need to.

though it's been covered, the answer is yes. the shaker shroud requires a bit of trimming to fit the larger intake size, but it works quite well. I'm running a C&L with the shaker[8D]

Does the shaker hood mainly help with keeping the engine cool? or is it an actual efficient intake... (for hp)?

the shaker would be classified as a "ram air" style intake, though even that is mostly a misnomer. at any speed below about 60-70mph, the shaker does virtually nothing for power, and little to do with cooling. above those speeds, you may see 1-3bhp. still, virtually nothing. it's more of an aesthetic mod, and it looks sick[8D], but for performance, the $750 is better spent elsewhere.

I hate my shaker, it does look good (on the outside)though, but i want to be able to dress up the engine, but you cant see anything but the big plastic thing covering the entire engine. you can't have strutbars, plenum covers, any kind of valve covers, its really gay, i honetly want to take mine off. if you have vista blue i would consider trading you to go back to stock, it looks cheap to me.

Im gettin a JLT intake installed tomorow, me and the mechanic guy figured that were just gonna cut a hole in the intake surround and let the shaker "feed" into the filter. and i wanted to do reeally cutom engine painting anddetailing but i cant atall with the shaker. and the guy before me got like wax or something white onthe trim around it (on the hood) and it wont come off atall.
but i will probablytrade if you have vista blue

A dremel, the right tools and vision. They'll work together.
