Default ? occasional blue smoke on startup

sometime when i start up my 05 manual GT i can see some blue smoke coming up from the exhaust - this does not happen often and most times after i start my car in the garage and back out into the drive and then shut it off; if i am out for the day and start and stop several times after driving it never happens - i only have about 12,000 miles on the car and have had a brenspeed tune for about 2 years with no problem; maybe it is just the short run time that causes it.

any ideas?

thanks in advance.

I drove 3 hours & almost purchased a 2006 at a Ford dealer. The sales guy had to start the car up & move it for me. Thats when I noticed there was alot of blue smoke that came out the back & needless to say, I didnt purchase the car. The salesman tried to comfort me by saying they do that if they sit for a while & its ok because its under warranty? I was like WTF! Is your car under warranty? I dont think blue smoke on start up is normal.

I have heard people talk about blue smoke at startup, but i've never seen my car do that. I don't start my car and then shut it right off though.

This is typically the sign of wore or weakvalve seals. After the vehicle sits for several hours the oil leaks by the seal and into the combustion chamber.

Mine does the same thing. I solved it by always running the engine forat least a minute or 2 in warm weather, and a little longer when it's cold.

Use the search feature. This appears common when you do a short start than a restart. I get it when I pull the car out of the garage, shut it off to wash it (or whatever) and restart a bit later. Don't sweat it.

Unburned fuel will not produce blue smoke.
