Also, there are things that we normally don't notice which wastes gas, such as, sittingor iding for long periods of time.
I'm sure many of us have been to the drive-thru at a fast food restaurant or bank. The majority of the time, you're sitting and idling and just wasting fuel. It's better to shut off the vehicle,go inside, andwaste human time rather than waste fuel sitting in park.
Also, rail road crossings or draw bridges, I HATE getting stuck at those places because you're just sitting for at least 10 minutes or more waiting and waiting and waiting wastingfuel. The best thing to do,shut offyour car.
Me, I have no sympathy for SUV drivers who haul a$$ going 80+ to 90+ MPH on the interstates and highways and, yet, they complain that they have to pay $100s of dollarsto fillupbecause they get crappy MPG. Well DUH!If they can't slow down, that's the cost theyhave to pay for arriving at their destination in ajust few minutes earlier.WOW!Whathuge time savings.

I'm pretty certain the car has a buffer of a gallon or so past when it says it is empty. I've never been able to get more than 15 gallons of gas in any of my s197s and I've never run out of gas, despite going below empty on the gauge numerous times.
