"Most TB cleaners will leave a residue, just so you know. "

Very funny....brake cleaner residue?

Seriously what should be used to spray/clean the MAF...brake cleaner?

I agree and a further note would be that it could leave a residue on the MAF sensor and give incorect readings.
What kind of brake cleaner leaves a residue? That would totally defeat the purpose of brake cleaner.
I have used this JAX product with fine results on the MAF.
Its for cleaning hardware before the use of LocTite.

Bought a MAF cleaner and cleaned it last night. Very easy process and dries fast. I bet it's brake cleaner.

Cleaned the TB also, did not remove it, however. Too chicken to screw something up. Engine seems to run a bit better. Probably psychological.

Exactly. I thought the point of brake cleaner is it disolves and evaporates away, leaving a clean surface.

Using a Q-tip on the MAF is playing with fire IMO.

I guess the reason I wouldn't spray the MAF with the brake cleaner is because it disolves so many things. Being the MAF is a computer sensor, there may be stuff that could be damged using the brake cleaner.

I used TB cleaner to clean my throttle body, but would use brake cleaner if I needed to.

MAF cleaner for the MAF.

Like someonelse said, I wonder if it's all the same?

I personally think they seem pretty much the same, but in reality who are we to guess? They may have one ingredient difference, but that may be the one ingredient that messes with the MAF, maybe damaging it? I just spent the bucks on a can of MAF cleaner and just used brake cleaner for the TB... no problems yet, and doubt there ever will be...

The MAF cleaner I bought was $6. I cleaned my throttle body with brake cleaner when I installed my whipple, no problems. Brake cleaner is a good universal cleaner. If you want to use something specified for a certain part, then that's fine, but don't think for a second that a manufacturer wouldn't relable the same product and sell it for more money as something else. It happens all the time.

I should come out with my own line of clutch cleaner.
