had the stock plugs for 28K miles, roughly, i think. i got the car with 10k on it, taken it in regularly for scheduled service, don't think they've changed the plugs.

As a rule of thumb I replace them when they foul and not a second sooner...[8D]

Without boost and high octane your plugs should actually last quite awhile. As long as the car is firing fine, I wouldn't worry about till the 50K mark IMO.

sounds good. i'm running the 93 octane brenspeed tune. don't have any evidence of a fouled plug, i'm not going to mess with it.

Should we replace the factory plugs with better after market plugs right away and then only replace them when they are bad?

Normally would completely agree with CK, but the two piece design and the disastrous carbon build-up stories have forced me to reconsider. I say either pull your plugs and put anti-seize on them at the very least, or pull them and replace with 1 piece champions with anti seize to prevent any breaking in the future.

remember its nickel anti-seize by the way...

Ford states to change the plugs at the 100K mile mark.

My car has 10000 miles and I plan to change them soon because of the broken plug problem.

I do agree but based on the info out, I just assumed most people would naturally pull the plugs almost immediately and put them back in with anti seize. With anti seize in place, I really don't see anything wrong with going 50K+ on them.

I don't think so. I would pull the plugs and put them back in with nickel anti seize, but other than that, I would stick to the stock HT1's unless my build demanded more.
