Default What exactly does an O/R X pipe do?

Okies I have the Magnaflow Magnapack Cat back system and was wondering if an o/r x would actually make it louder.
I have called several shops and all but one say an x pipe will not make it louder.
But I have heard from some people that it will.....

So does a x make it louder?
Magnaflow only sells a universal x and it does not say offroad ...
So I dunno if this would work anyway or not.
Here's the link

Info and advice?
Thanks!

Yes, an o/r X-pipe will make it louder. They're a talking about a regular X-pipe, one with converters. In that case, it will sound different, but probably won't be any louder.

Install should be around $100-$200, not too complicated. I would recommend an off-road X-pipe if your looking for the best gain, but the tone might get a little raspy. You will see slight gains from a catted X, but nothing spectacular.

All that does is replace the H in the existing stock midpipe. I also would recommend a O/R midpipe if emissions aren't a concern where you live. You could probably install that yourself if you don't mind using clamps, ideally it would be best to weld it in place.

Hrm. ok I'm confused on the O/R x pipe and midpipe.
What is the difference? I thought they were one in the same?

I did'nt see anything on the Magnaflow site on midpipes...
what do they look like and link to where one is?

I'm obviously ignorant to this.

The link you posted is simply a generic crossover piece- ideal for muffler shops designing their own custom systems. It will not simply bolt up to your car. The other one will, but why spend so much money? $450 seems really extreme for an x-pipe. If you can live without the shiny tubing there are much better deals around. This Pypes O/R X will do the same thing. You might have slight quality issues, but it is less than half the price.
