Moose this was at Coastal Plains Dragway in NC. As far a powershifting, on all shifts i was lifting off the gas cause i already know about the tensioner problem. I was already going to get a thump r tensioner i just didn't realize i would need it so soon.

It happens. When I replaced my tensioner, it was bent out a few degrees and I never once powershifted with the whipple. Frankly, I have no idea how my belt hung on as long as it did.

As far as i can tell gates is the only company that makes a belt that will fit a whippled stang. I've been looking around for a 6 rib belt thats 124.7" and can't find one even close. Closes thing i've found is 120". I called a gates supplier and he doesn't even list the belt in his computer. I'll have to make a call to whipple on monday and order 2.

Peter Mitas of Thump_rrr racing. (Thump_rrr@hotmail.com)

Send him an email and let him know that you're interested in the tensioner. That's how I got mine.

add DRs and upgrade your LCAs too. you'll cut those 60 fts down

113 trap is good for very low 12s or high 11s IMO

That sucks man. I hope you get it all sorted out soon. Looks like I need to look at a new tensioner before this could happen to me. Plus I have to drive my car from Dallas TX to Atlanta soon and really do not want anything to happen during the long drive.

You can try a stock tensioner but cut the top stop tab off of it.
(The tab under the middle mounting hole)
That worked for me.

He already did that. It's in the whipple installation instructions. Twin screws still break tensioners even with the stop tab removed. The only surefire way to avoid breaking another tensioner is to buy the thump_rrr.
